It is important to have a strong password and make sure you do not share it with friends and other classmates - only you and your parents/guardians should know that password.

When creating a new password for your account, it must meet certain requirements or else it will not be accepted until it is strong enough. Below are those requirements and some guidelines to help create a strong password.

Minimum Requirements

  • Cannot contain the user’s account name or parts of the user’s full name that exceed two consecutive characters
  • Be at least 7 characters in length
  • Contain characters from 3 of the following 4 categories:
    • English uppercase characters (A through Z)
    • English lowercase characters (a through z)
    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
    • Non-alphabetic characters (for example: !, $, #, %)
  • Cannot be a previous password

Guidelines

  • Do not leave written passwords on desks, planners or in your case
    • Someone could take your device and have the password to log in as you. Anything they do on the device will appear like you did it and it could lead to you getting in trouble.
  • The more characters, the higher the strength of the password
  • Consider using a passphrase rather than just one word (ex: instead of Password!12345, try Thi$isMyP@$$word!12345) Note: don’t use password in any form, this was just an example
  • Make the password strong, but not too difficult that it is not easy for you to remember
  • If you are creating a new password and it is not accepted, make sure you are meeting the minimum requirements
